Tea with Jud

Tea with Jud

Jud Pollock is a much loved artist who creates funky pottery and textiles. She’s based in rural Scotland and runs her own business: Tea with Jud. In 2015 we created a website to help Jud promote and sell her products.

Customer Requirement

To free up valuable studio time, Tea with Jud needed an online store so customers could browse and make purchases without Jud needing to be involved. Jud also wanted to establish and increase awareness of the brand through blogging and displaying her wares on the website. She keeps followers up to date with craft fairs, shops that stock her pottery, new designs and general news. The website needed to be visually inspiring, personable and easy to use, in keeping with Tea with Jud’s overall vision.

Solution

Using the WooCommerce plugin and one of their themes as a starting point, we created a working online shop. It was styled to fit our concept, using layout and colours chosen by Jud.

The ordering process needed flexible shipping rates determined by destination and weight. This was implemented with a Woocommerce add-on.

We used Paypal for processing payments safely and securely. We also included the option for local orders (based on a postcode range) to be collected in person, free of charge.

Visitors and customers can subscribe to the site, automatically receiving any new blog posts directly by email. This was created using tools from the Jetpack plugin for WordPress .

Finally, we provided basic training on how use WordPress. This means Jud now adds new products, pages, posts and any other edits by herself.

Mobile View

The bright and colourful theme directly reflects the personality and requests of the business owner. The adapted WooCommerce theme was designed to resemble a wall with pages and posts appearing to be paper sheets pinned to it. The sidebar elements are designed to resemble post-it notes. Together this gives the general appearance of a creative studio wall.

Since building the site we’ve followed up with the addition of Google Adwords and Google Merchants to create ad campaigns on pay per click basis.
